DAY 30 - WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE?

“And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” (Acts 2:4 NKJV)

I love the ending of the movie, Castaway, starring Tom Hanks. He lived on a deserted island for years until he built a raft and was rescued at sea. His perspective on life was greatly altered, which is evident upon his return to ‘normal’ life. Near the end of the movie, he comes to a crossroad after delivering long lost packages from the airplane crash he endured. A local gives him direction and choices about where to go next. He completed a task and was awaiting the next part. I resonate with this scene in many ways. I complete a task, achieve a goal, acquire a new skill, read a book, and think, “Where do I go from here?”

The disciples were at a crossroad. Jesus ascended to Heaven, and they were awaiting the promise of His eternal presence with them: The Holy Spirit. They were in an upper room, just waiting. You have completed this devotion and series of devotions. Did you accomplish your goals? Did you take on the daily challenges? At a crossroad, appreciate the past, look forward to the future, and live in the present and in the presence of God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – the Promised Helper; the One who strengthens, nourishes, and empowers the Gift of God, Himself. God will speak if we only listen. Where do I go from here? Go with God, because He is with us, and we, the Church, are together.

IronMaker’s Daily Challenge:  Set a new goal for the next season of your spiritual journey. Join a small group. Come to worship more often. Be involved with the many mission opportunities. Try something new. As a follower of Jesus Christ, we have the Promise of the Spirit to equip us for the next part of life. What is it for you?

Prayer:  Lord Jesus of Nazareth, High Priest of Heaven, I stand at the crossroads with so many others. Reveal to me a new area of my life in which I can grow my faith today. Amen
